Singer Alka Yagnik reports rare hearing loss caused by viral infection

It is difficult to imagine that popular singer Alka Yagnik, somebody who lives with the sound of music, is going through hearing loss. Revealing she has a condition called sensorineural deafness in her social media handle, she wrote, “It has been diagnosed by my docs as a rare sensory neural nerve hearing loss, due to a viral attack…This sudden, major setback has caught me completely unawares. As I attempt to come to terms with it, please keep me in your prayers.”

National Physical Disability T20 second phase begins

LAHORE: The second phase of the Shahid Afridi Foundation National Physical Disability T20 Cricket Championship 2024 Grade One will begin here on Tuesday May 14th.

Four teams will participate in this phase: Bahawalpur, Islamabad, Peshawar and Lahore. Organised by Pakistan Physical Disability Cricket Association and supported by Shahid Afridi Foundation and Pakistan Cricket Board.

Changing futures: Deaf children hear for the first time

With funds from Global Partnership for Education, UNICEF is providing hearing aids for deaf children in Punjab

UNICEF, with funds from Global Partnership for Education (GPE), and in partnership with the Special Education Department, Government of Punjab, aims to reach more than 23,000 children with assistive devices for disabilities, including fitting over 3,500 deaf children with hearing aids in Lahore.
